Media Release: Irish Mythen to headline fundraiser in support of Women's Network PEI
Great entertainment, raffle prizes, live art and more!
Islanders have two weeks left to get their hands on tickets to Celebrate Island Women, a fun night of entertainment presented by Women’s Network PEI’s Board of Directors to raise funds for the non-profit organization.
On Wednesday, November 16, The Guild will host a three-part event featuring live art by Becka Viau, which will be auctioned off during the intermission; comedy sketches by the talented improv troupe WITTY Mama; and a set by the ever-popular Irish Mythen, who agreed to add the date to her busy touring schedule.
"I'm delighted to be involved with the first fundraiser for Women's Network PEI," says Irish Mythen. "It's an important organization and one that’s growing. Important work and collective minds make for a super network. I’m so looking forward to the night at The Guild; I hope it’s packed to the rafters!"
In addition to the entertainment, the Board of Directors has collected dozens of prizes that will be gathered in raffle baskets. Before the show and during the intermission, the public will be able to buy $20.00 tickets for the chance to win the basket of their choosing. A night’s stay at the Hotel on Great George, gift certificates for aesthetic services, jewelry, artworks and various gift cards donated by local businesses are just some of what a few lucky Islanders could take home!
The event is also backed by several Women’s Champions, including Upstreet Brewery, The Guild, ARI Financial Services, Scotiabank, Murphy's Pharmacies, Revolution Media and Ben Livingston & Sons Welding.
"The support from local businesses has been excellent so far," says Beti Andric, Chair of the WN Board of Directors. "If we can fill all those seats, the funds raised will alleviate Women’s Network's operational costs and allow the organization to keep leading projects that have a real impact on the community and help improve the status of women in PEI."
Tickets are $45 (including fees and taxes) and can be bought on The Guild’s website. The Gallery will be open at 6:30 p.m., the doors to the venue at 7:00 p.m., and the performances will start at 7:30 p.m.
