Announcing Women's Economic Empowerment Project

Two programs now offered to Island women

Women's Network PEI is offering two programs for women under our newly designed project. Both programs are for women who are on EI, are working 20 hours a week or less, are on social assistance or have no income.

The Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) project is funded in whole or part through the Canada - PEI Labour Market Development Agreement and the Canada - Prince Edward Island Job Fund.

The project includes two programs — PropELLE and Trade HERizons.

PropELLE is an employment readiness program for women who are ready to make change in their lives. Participants will explore hidden job markets while exploring traditionally male work sectors. PropELLE activities include:

  • Personal development
  • Essential skills
  • Career development
  • Exposure to traditionally male workplaces

Trade HERizons is a college preparation course with a focus on skill building for training and employment readiness for skilled trades and technologies. Trade HERizons activities include:

  • Exposure to trades and industrial technology
  • Essential skills
  • Career development
  • Personal development
