Women's Network PEI struggling to obtain funding
The organization's executive director says more groups seeking funds from shrinking pot of money
CBC News Prince Edward Island, March 31, 2015 — A not-for-profit organization that works to strengthen and support the efforts of PEI women has about 80 per cent less staff than it did a year ago at this time.
Women's Network PEI is down to two part-time staffers because of layoffs, down from nine full-time and two part-time staff.
The executive director of the organization says most of the money it receives is for specific projects.
Sara Roach-Lewis is not sure why the organization's most recent proposals have been rejected by federal and provincial governments, as well as other funding partners.
