The Digital Skills Intern will be responsible for supporting communications and social media activities at WNPEI. Responsibilities include graphic design, social media management, website updates and other communications-related tasks.

Position Details

Reporting to: Executive Director

Internship Criteria

A candidate candidate must:

  • Be thirty years of age or under at the start of the internship,
  • Have completed a program at a recognized post-secondary institution,
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada,
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status,
  • Not be in receipt of Employment Insurance benefits during the internship, and
  • Be unemployed or underemployed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and support Women’s Network PEI’s communications plan
  • Develop a social media strategy for Women’s Network PEI as well as a social media policy to support safer spaces online.
  • Develop visual materials for programs, events and outreach purposes.
  • Support outreach and promotion of the annual fundraising event as well as other activities.
  • Enhance digital storytelling capabilities of existing programs and projects of Women’s Network PEI.
  • Support programming teams with visual materials, and other communications and or social media needs.
  • Support Women’s Network PEI’s board of directors to relaunch Common Ground Magazine digitally.
  • Provide support related to digital tools and processes to support Women’s Network PEI’s board and staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Understanding of intersectional feminist approaches and applying gender and diversity lenses.
  • Knowledge of social justice and feminist issues in PEI and beyond.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Understanding of digital platforms and tools for community-based organizations.

Compensation

This is a part-time position located in Charlottetown with hybrid work options available (in-office as well as remote). The Digital Skills Intern will work 24 hours a week at a rate of $24/hr for 26 weeks with an anticipated start date of August 12th, 2024.
