Women's Network PEI cancels what would have been their 5th annual Celebrate Island Women fundraiser.
November 16, 2020, CHARLOTTETOWN — Women's Network PEI has made the difficult decision to cancel Celebrate Island Women 2020 that was to be held again this year at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall at the Holland College campus in Charlottetown.
"This is one of my favourite events of the year and I was very disappointed that we couldn't host it again this year", says Board Chair Judy Herlihy. "It's been both humbling and beautiful to see the support of the community in past years for the work Women's Network does. This year we'd just like to send out a big THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us, it has meant a lot".
This would have been the 5th annual fundraiser. Celebrate Island Women is a wonderful evening bringing together some of the Island's most talented artists, in support of the vital work Women's Network PEI does. Full of music, dance, art, food and inspiration, it is an evening to remember.
“Celebrate Island Women has been an opportunity to bring together our network, communities, staff, board, volunteers, supporters and donors. It has become an amazing opportunity to share our accomplishments and celebrate the talents of emerging and established artists. We will miss the opportunity to gather in person in the same way we did in previous years. That being said, community connections and support are more necessary than ever, Women's Network continues to offer adapted programming and advocate for changes that improve equity in our communities and systems”. - Jillian Kilfoil Executive Director of Women's Network PEI
The fundraiser is made possible by the dedicated staff, volunteers, artists and board of directors who work throughout the year to make the event successful. All the funds raised go directly towards Women's Network PEI's operations and programming.
The supportive community on PEI is why Women's Network runs successful programs, helps those in need and evokes change. Although we are unable to gather this year, we want to ensure all those involved that support Women's Network receive a huge Thank You! Everyone at Women's Network is forever grateful for those who have made our past fundraisers outstanding. We are all navigating this difficult time in the world. We hope to see you next year, where we once again can Celebrate Island Women and support the crucial work of Women's Network.
