Celebrate Island Women: A Women's Network Fundraiser
Women's Network PEI Board of Directors is organizing a fundraising event on November 16, 2016. This is an excellent opportunity for local businesses to show their support for Island women.
For more than 30 years, Women's Network PEI has dedicated itself to improve the status of women in our community. Acting as a forum for the voices of women in PEI, the not-for-profit organization aims to provide opportunities for women to realize power, knowledge, abilities, vision and financial security.
Why we need your help
WNPEI is a project-based organization, which means that funding sources are inconsistent. Even when the organization is selected to lead specific funded projects, its operational costs are never guaranteed. This makes the staff's work especially challenging. To address this pressing issue, the Board of Directors will be organizing an evening of celebration of Island women with award winning singer-songwriter Irish Mythen, improv comedy troup Witty Mama, and live art by PEI artist, activist and community organizer Becka Viau, followed the auction of the artwork created by Becka during the performances. The event will be held at The Guild in Charlottetown. While these fantastic local artists are sure to draw a crowd, the success of this fundraising event will rely heavily on support from the community and the private sector.
What you can do
Private sector members can support WNPEI by making a donation directly to the organization or by taking advantage of this sponsorship opportunity. Whether it's through food, prizes, ticket sales or printed materials, your support allows us to cut back on event costs and make our fundraising efforts a success! Businesses and individuals can also donate goods or services for the silent auction.

The funds raised will be used to help run programs that engage not only Island women, but also men (parenting programs, programs promoting healthy masculinity), girls, and boys, and the community in general — because at Women's Network PEI we believe that every member of our community, regardless of gender, age, or economic status, is affected by the way the society treats women and girls. It is very important that we all take part in efforts to achieve true equality for women, for the benefit of all of us.
